Professor from Washington University visited CAISM

On July 20th, 2018, the Woman’s Hospital Dr. José Aristodemo Pinotti - CAISM received the visit of Dr. Indira Mysorekar, full professor of Pathology and Immunology and the Associate Director of the Center for Reproductive Health Sciences at Washington University, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Mysorekar’s work encompasses studies of mechanisms underlying biology and pathophysiology of the urinary bladder to studies of novel infectious etiologies for premature birth, using mouse models, cell culture models, and conduct translational studies using human placental tissues. Recently, she was part of groundbreaking work on Zika virus infection and is stablishing a collaboration with Dr. Maria Laura Costa - MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of University of Campinas (Unicamp).

Dr. Mysorekar was in Brazil for an International Conference and came to visit Unicamp for one day. She was impressed with the facilities presented and with all possibilities for collaboration. Dr. Mysorekar was introduced to the Associated Dean of the School of Medical Sciences (SMS), visited the Woman’s Hospital CAISM, its institutional Biobank (and the placental sample collection room) and also Dr. Laura’s collaborating basic research lab (leaded by Dr. José Luiz Proença Módena and called LEVE: Emerging Virus Research Laboratory).
